Program Departments & Activities
Aquatics

Swimming, diving, canoeing, and funyaks make up the aquatic programs. All the campers
are encouraged and given opportunities to improve their aquatic skills. Campers who pass
our deep-water test are allowed to enter the deep end of the pool. Campers that don’t
pass the deep-water test participate in swimming lessons for the first or last half of their
pool time. Campers that have passed, work on swimming skills i.e. breathing, leg kick, arm
motion, a variety of swimming strokes and diving.

Canoeing is an important part of our program. As campers grow through our summer
programs they have opportunities to develop their canoeing skills that will allow them to
move from canoeing on our 15-acre lake to canoeing down the Black and Current Rivers.
Our funyaks offer all our campers a fun alternative to canoeing.

Performing & Creative Arts

Everyone has a creative inner being and in our performing & creative arts department we
want to give our campers avenues to display this creativity. Music and dance is one of the
most popular forms of expressing ourselves. With positive influence and encouragement
campers can learn new forms of dance, how to play musical instruments, make & produce
puppet shows, learn sign language, design and make their own clothes. Campers can also
learn how to: use a pottery wheel, make bead art, design paper mache objects, make
lanyard, tie-dye, make candles, experiment with batiking and much more.

Outdoor Living Skills

Outdoor living skills are the foundation of our summer camp program. All of our campers
participate in overnight camping trips that range from overnights in our valley to 8-day
trips hiking through our national forest and canoeing down local rivers. Fire building,
outdoor cooking, hiking, caving, backpacking, wilderness camping, orienteering, and
nature studies are all part of the “camp experience”.

Adventure/Sports

Adventure/Sports provides campers opportunities to challenge themselves as individuals
and as a cabin group. Initiative games, low ropes course, and the Tango Tower
(climbing/rappelling), provide a sequence of activities and games that teach our campers
skills such as; problem solving, positive communication, leadership, active listening, and
emphasizes the importance of team work, group decision making, compromise, and
negotiating. Other activities like archery, basketball, soccer, funnuky, wiffle ball, kickball,
rubber chicken, volleyball, Frisbee golf, water balloon volleyball, washers, and many
others give campers the chance to play and have fun in a non-competitive environment.
