COMMUNICATION WITH YOUR CHILD
The most exciting part of the camp day is when your child receives a letter from home.
Please send a cheerful letter or postcard at least once during the session.

From time to time parents feel the need to talk with their child, because many children
need a period of time to adjust to camp life (because of
Homesickness) phone calls from
parents tend to make that adjustment
more difficult.  Also, camp is not set up to be able to
have campers call or to receive calls from home when ever they want.  Please
DO NOT
TELL
your child that they can call you anytime they feel the need to.  Our staff is trained
to work with children and to be sensitive to their needs.  Please call the Camp Director
and he will be happy to speak with you about your concerns.

IN THE EVENT OF A CRISIS
In today’s world, crises can occur with or without warning.  Sherwood Forest Camp has
had plans to respond to natural disasters such as severe thunderstorms, tornados and
floods.  But, with the events that have occurred in the world many camps are expanding
their emergency response plans.   When any crisis occurs, parents’ first thoughts are of
their children’s safety and well-being.  We are committed to helping our campers respond
to difficult situations.   Sherwood Forest has expanded our emergency plans to include
responses in case of another national crisis.  Here are key areas covered in our
emergency plan to respond to a national crisis:

The threat of a national crisis that directly affects your child’s stay at camp is very small.
However, we feel it is better to be prepared and to let you know what our plans are, just in
case.
MEDICATION
If you child takes medication, please make sure it is sent to camp in the original
container with enough doses for the entire session.  It is also very important that
your child stay on their medication.
Summer camp should not be a time to take a
child off their medication.
