JOB SUMMARY:
A Group Leader/Instructor in the Outdoor Education program at Sherwood Forest Camp lives, plays, works and plans with their campers. Applicants should understand that working with children in a residential camping environment is a demanding responsibility, encompassing all aspects of camp life. Group Leader/Instructors are responsible for supervision, guidance, instruction and role modeling for their campers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Live with, supervise, guide program-planning process and participate in all activities of the cabin group. Instruct cabin group in a variety of program areas: Tango Tower, orienteering, pioneer skills, nature hike, archery, team challenge course, and group initiatives.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Live with and supervise a cabin group
Act as a positive role model for your campers at all times
Set up and teach program activities with the cabin group
During training, become proficient as an instructor in each camp activity
Provide for the welfare of your campers
Help plan, set up and run large group activities
Help coordinate trips and drive camp vans if eligible
Help lead campfires and other evening programs
Administer snack Help with general site preparation and clean-up
Other duties that may be assigned by the Outdoor Education Coordinator or Camp Director
