This is the 3rd level of the Leadership Program. Leadership Adventure campers have participated in and successfully completed the Leadership Trek program.
Eligibility requirements: Age- 14-15 years old Grade in school- 8th and 9th grade Previous camp experience- completed the Leadership Trek program Recommendation- from Leadership Trek group leader, village director and teacher/counselor School and community standing- good citizen, works to his/her potential Application- completed by parents with applicant's statement of purpose Preparation- participation in school year meetings, planning sessions
Program outcomes, goals and objectives: The Leadership Adventure program will present campers opportunities to learning and develop skill such as; budgeting, planning travel, work and leisure time itineraries, menus, interviewing, public speaking and providing community service to United Way agencies in the local area. This will give campers an opportunity to increase their ability to become self- motivated, work as a team, lead and follow others, and develop a respect and appreciation in serving others.
Leadership Adventure campers will develop an understanding, respect and appreciation for the community service.
Leadership Adventure campers will understand the importance of self-motivation.
Leadership Adventure campers will understand the importance of effective teamwork.
Leadership Adventure campers will be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills.
Leadership Adventure campers will be able to properly motivate others and demonstrate those skills.
Leadership Adventure campers will be able to demonstrate their role in emergency situations.
Leadership Adventure campers will keep a journal of their experiences. They will use this journal to present a report of their trip to the rest of the Leadership Program.
Program outline: The purpose of the Leadership Adventure Program is to introduce campers to the next stage of their summer camp experience, (CIT) Counselors In Training. As CIT’s, the Leadership Adventure campers will either live with a cabin group and assist the group throughout the session or will choose one of the activity departments for the purpose of learning the needed skills to teach a set of activities.
Campers must attend two complete camp sessions. During the 1st session Leadership Adventure campers will begin the CIT (Counselor In Training) program. With assistance from their group leader/s, they will also plan their trip to St. Louis and to visit other camps. The planning process will consist of; community service projects, travel and daily itinerary needs, budget and menus. The St. Louis and camp visit trips will demand campers to be self motivated, to be a team player, to be able to lead and follow others effectively.
