Boys Camp allows children ages 9 to 11 (who have completed 3rd, 4th, or 5th grades) to learn to make decisions and take responsibility for their time. Campers choose their own activities at camp, basing their selection on their interests and skill level. Campers have opportunities to interact with children who are not their age or in their cabin group.
Boys in 3rd or 4th grade can choose one of two 12-day sessions:
June 4 – June 15 or June 18 – June 29, 2011
Boys in 5th grade participate in one 26-day sessions:
June 4 – June 29, 2011
Campers live with six to ten other campers who are the same age. Two or more counselors work with each group. At least one sleeps in the cabin with campers. Counselors are chosen because they are fun, know how to interact positively with this age group, and have the skills to help these campers develop independence.
Camp programs focus on building character and skills in a fun and active learning environment. Activities are tailored to give children increased opportunities to make friends, learn new skills, and practice making decisions, communication, and negotiating. Campers improve skills they already have, such as swimming, canoeing, outdoor cooking, dance, archery, and orienteering. Or, they may try an activity they have never done before, like working with clay, drumming, or climbing our Tango Tower. Campers select their activities from a list offered in each of our four program areas around camp: aquatics, performing & creative arts, outdoor living skills, and adventure/sports.
Many of these campers have participated in our Mini Camp program, but some are coming to camp for the first time.
