
Please note: Leadership is completely full for the 2010 summer. If your child is in 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade, please feel free to complete the application, and we will place your child on the wait list. If a space becomes available for your child we will let you know.
Challenge is the entry level of Leadership Training for 12 year-olds who have completed 6th grade. Campers attend one 26-day session. Leadership Challenge campers learn teamwork, responsibility for self, greater independence, new camping skills, and a feeling of personal accomplishment.

June 5 - June 30, 2010 (boys)
July 6 - July 31, 2010 (girls)
Leadership Challenge campers prepare for two four-day trips by reviewing and learning new skills such as: river canoeing, orienteering, low impact camping, plant identification, and other related outdoor living skills.
The first half is a 4-day backpacking trip on the Center section of the Ozark Trail. The second half is a 4-day river trip on the Current River, starting at Akers Ferry and ending at Round Springs.
Leadership Challenge campers will:
- understand the importance of teamwork
- know how to read a topographical map and use a compass
- assist in the planning of two four-day trips, gaining knowledge of trip preparation
- be the group's leader for a specified amount of time, responsible for reading and interpreting the trail using a topographical map
- be responsible for assisting in daily cooking of all meals
- develop an understanding of, respect for, and appreciation of the natural environment
Eligibility Requirements:
